Working Groups are established by the IMIA-NI General Assembly, upon submission of the proposed scope of the WG. Each shall deliver whatever result is decided at a specific time. Some WGs are long-established, continually refining their workplans; others are established for shorter timescales, with a view to specific deliverables. 

A Working Group consists of experts selected and assigned, without consideration of nationality, to work in a specified area. The Chairperson of a WG is elected by the General Assembly upon recommendation of the Executive Committee.
